CIO Europe Event- Marriott Zurich, Switzerland
Our CIO Europe Event at the Marriott Hotel, Zurich will begin with a joint session with four of the leading figures from mainland Europe in the sector.
The first session, entitled ‘Business Transformation, a 360 degree approach’, will be led by Cristian Paun, Business CIO EMEA at DuPont.
The reality is that too many companies are focusing only on digital while missing the big picture: new business models. Technology and digital is meant to support and change the way we work, interact with clients, but it all starts with the business first: business model, operating model and technology model.
Cristian is a well known change-maker and passionate Senior Executive from the Chemical/Insurance/FMCG/Banking/Telecommunications industries. He has focused on the connection between IT and successful business outcomes, both with bringing topline growth as well as cost reduction programs.
He has a significant track record in the delivery of technologies like RPA, AI, IoT to solve real business problems. Lead globally Innovation, M&A, integration and separation programs. He crafted procurement and vendor strategies that allowed to achieve multi million EUR savings.
Following on immediately from this presentation will be a panel discussion on the subject of ‘Making Transformation Happen’. Chaired by Cristian, the panel will also consist of Emiliano Colangeli, CIO at Elior Italia, Reto U. Sahli, Global Intelligent Automation Program Lead at Mondelez International and Wolfgang Bitomsky, CIO at FCC E CEE Group.
In this session the panel will discuss:
What is the best approach for implementing new technologies?
Where do you start? The challenges and opportunities
Are there ethical implications impacting transformation today? What about tomorrow?
Emiliano is an IT professional with 20 years experience in 3 very different markets (media, telco, and food), who recently became CIO of the first company in Italy for collective catering.
‘I have always worked in challenging innovative situations, in the context of resource rationalization. Thanks to this working background, I succeed in making innovation a driving force for saving and rationalizing business processes.’
Despite being relatively new in his role, his experience in various sectors and so has seen the journey being undertaken in different ways and has many potential lessons to share: ‘We are only now just discovering the true potential A, but first you need a complete analysis of what technology is needed for you and talk to your technologists to decide if AI is the right solution for you to help your processes. Understand the need, how it can be implemented and how big a priority it is, then talk about technology.’
Reto is known internationally as an expert and strategist for IA (Intelligent Automation), keynote speaker and panelist at major industry events. He is currently leading intelligent automation at Mondelez, a $26 billion consumer-goods company and in the past has led key parts during the creation of GBS (Shared Services/Business Process Outsourcing).
And on the digital journey, Reto explains that ‘one of the topics that has interested me recently is the whole debate around the ethics of AI and what are the requirements that come along with the growth of AI. There is a saying that ‘even algorithms have parents’ and so we are responsible for what we are developing and implementing.’
Wolfgang is an experienced manager in international and national organisations (IT and telecommunication) with a proven track of international contract negotiations, leading negotiation teams through all bid phases encompassing solution and architecture design, supplier selection and final contracting.
